Sustainability
Sustainability is in our name, innovation is our second nature.
The word “Silva” in the company’s name means forest. “TP,” in turn, comes from “Terra Patris,” meaning fatherland. A responsible and respectful relationship with nature is therefore at the very core of everything we do.
Firewood is a renewable natural resource and an important part of today’s diverse energy mix – and it is likely to remain so in the future. What really matters is the choice of firewood processor to produce that firewood. TP Silva’s responsible approach sets it apart from many of its competitors. Social and environmental sustainability and responsibility are an integral part of all we do.
Numerous innovations in the Japa, Palax, Hakki Pilke and X Firewood Factory product lines ensure not only safety but also high quality in the firewood produced. Properly sized, uniform firewood dries and burns efficiently. For example, Japa’s Perfect Split splitting method improves efficiency, precision, and flexibility in firewood production. It also reduces the need to sort raw wood. Similarly, X Firewood Factory can efficiently convert even large volumes of timber into clean, evenly sized firewood. That’s how we also help keep fine particulate emissions under control.
And of course, we also supply maintenance and spare parts. We’ve actually been asked for spare parts for machines made in the 1960s – and we supplied them. In the second-hand market, it is known that even a 20-year-old high-quality firewood processor can command its original purchase price. As a result, machines manufactured by TP Silva are not scrapped. They find new life with new owners. Naturally, their primary material, steel, is also recyclable, so their lifecycle can continue in another form.
TP Silva is part of the Chamber of Commerce’s responsibility program and is proud to use its label in sustainability communications.
